The adult learner and tutor meet at a time and place convenient for both. Tutors and adult learners usually meet once or twice per week for one to two hours per session. Tutoring usually takes place at a neutral location, such as a church, community room, or library. Tutors receive on-going support from Literacy Program staff as well as complete access to supplemental resources and online training programs.
Our students range in age from 16-96, with a variety of reading, math and comprehension levels. We have a number of Pre-GED students who need a little help to be able to take their tests. We have students who want to earn their driver’s license or become US citizens. We also have educated immigrants who would like to improve their English skills.
